Pak leaders condemn attack on Sri Lankan cricket team

Pakistani President and Prime Minister Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in eastern Pakistan, which killed five policemen and wounded four Sri Lankan cricketers.

President Asif Ali Zardari asked the authorities concerned to immediately investigate the incident so that the perpetrators were identified and their motives exposed, according to official Associated Press of Pakistan.

He also directed that best possible medical treatment be provided to the injured.Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani termed the incident a terrorist attack and said the objective was to bring a bad name to Pakistan.

He directed the provincial authorities to immediately beef up the security and submit him a report. Unidentified gunmen fired at a police vehicle escorting a Sri Lankan cricket team in Liberty Chowk in Lahore, the capital city of Punjab, leaving five policemen dead and four Sri Lankan cricket players wounded on Tuesday, private TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.The team was close to Gaddafi Stadium in the city when the incident occurred.
