We wouldn’t usually opt for a Mad Men–esque makeover when dressing for a day on a wave runner, but the artist formerly known as Marisa Cooper made a convincing case for the pin-up approach while vacationing on Miami Beach. Leave it to the most popular and sort-of damaged girl at school to pull that one off. (Yes we know it’s been a long time but she hasn’t done much since so forgive us if we’re still living in the OC).

The Hair
Much like convertible hair, beach hair is a tricky tightrope walk between tousled and tornado victim. Barton’s hybrid messy bun-meets-side twists approach could fit in on a runway, but also manages to feel at home on the beach. The fact that she finished it off with cherry red lips means she might be overdressed for the occasion, but how many pinups do you see wearing Chapstick?
The Suit
It’s mostly girls who like the retro bathing suit trend—due to the fact that said fashion movement involves covering up more skin at the beach—but Mischa’s style splits the difference, translating a vintage-feeling black and white 50s polka dot print to a cheeky halter bikini. Sweet, and flirty at the same time.
The Shorts
With the right Breton these shorts could veer dangerously close to Sailor Costume territory, but going solo they manage to flatter Mischa’s waist and her high-driff reveal. Ladies, take note.
