Michael Winterbottom transposes Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles to present-day India, and now you can see the teaser trailer. Trishna stars Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire, Miral) as the young woman of humble origins who falls for Jay (Four Lions star Riz Ahmed), an educated and wealthy city boy.
The teaser offers no dialogue, but the film boasts original songs by Amit Trivedi and an original score by Shigeru Umebayashi. Versatile director Winterbottom follows up his controversially violent Killer Inside Me with Trishna, which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival.
