Prince William has chosen his favourite chocolate biscuit cake for the wedding reception. Wills has asked specially for the unbaked cake, alongside a more traditional three tiered fruit cake by luxury baker Fiona Cairns. It will be created by biscuit maker McVitie’s to a secret royal recipe, with ingredients including 1,700 crushed Rich Tea biscuits and nearly 40lb of dark chocolate.
Paul Courtney, of McVitie’s, said: “The recipe was given to us by the Palace and we’ve been sworn to secrecy. I’d love to be able to tell you, I really would. But, it’s a royal secret.”And Kate has helped Fiona design the second cake, which will be white and feature edible plants – an English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and an Irish shamrock – as well as the couple’s entwined initials. Fiona, 56, based in Fleckney, Leics, said: “I’m very excited. It’s a traditional cake but delicate and modern. Each tier has a different theme.”3Wills had his stag do on a private country estate at the weekend. Harry organised the bash to keep it private.
